Interview with Seth & Riley Bensusen of Pretty Good Printing

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around? We’ve been around for a little over a year, we opened in the last week of 2020! We offer a wide range of printed goods: business cards, stickers, banners, flyers, yard signs, etc. We also just recently started screen printing in-house as well!

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started? Seth has worked in print for 13 years in pretty much every position there is, even opening and running new shops for others. In February 2020 we moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for Seth’s new job – Branch Manager at a large print franchise location. One month later, the Covid lockdown hit and Seth was out of a job since the print shop shut down. We looked for work for about 5 months with no luck. After being home with our young girls for months, the thought of going back to an office job sounded terrible. The combination of that plus the lack of luck on the job hunt got us to start thinking about starting our own shop and running it ourselves.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition? While we offer shipping anywhere in the US, local Salem businesses benefit the most from our services. Our turnaround times are typically 1-2 business days, we offer rush and weekend orders too if you’re in a bind, we offer local delivery, and we price match with the big guys if you happen to find their prices are cheaper for a product or service.

What is your favorite part of running this business? Being able to run our own business from home with our family has been amazing. Another part we love is being able to serve our community and create relationships with incredible artists, business owners, and individuals.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best? Everyone! We have many large corporate clients as well as individuals that use us. There isn’t an order too small or too large, they all mean the world to us!

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next few years? We have grown much faster than anticipated and are currently looking for a bigger shop space, this will help us expand with new equipment that will streamline a lot of our processes and let us offer new products.
