Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
We help the professional stand out among the crowd by portraying confidence and authority through premier headshots! Founded by Deb and Dan Ficek in 2019, we’re focused on commercial headshot and branding photography. We want to transform your current image from unassured to confident, inaccessible to approachable and amateur to professional!
How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
Dan has always been interested in photography and first got serious about it in 1993 in the darkroom at South Salem High School. Until 2019, it was primarily a hobby for both of us until we decided to take it from hobby to business. In the beginning we were shooting everything, Newborns, Maternity, Wedding, Families, High School Seniors, Real Estate and Products. While we may be open to some of these things, we primarily have found our niche in professional commercial headshot photography.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
I think the biggest thing that separates us from some of the other amazing photographers in our local area is that we are laser focused on one type of photography, Headshots! As members of Peter Hurley’s Headshot Crew based out of New York City, we stay up to date on the latest trends and styles and we are constantly refining our style to provide clients with a great image. Also, we try to make an experience out of the shoot. We have your favorite music playing when you arrive, the fridge is stocked with your favorite beverage, and we throw away time limits. Need a quick 15-minute shoot, we got you covered. Want to take a bit longer, change some outfits, switch out the backgrounds, we got that covered too!
What is your favorite part of running this business?
The best part of doing our shoots is meeting our clients. It’s awesome to meet someone in person for the first time after a phone call or Zoom meeting and by the end of the session, having them leave feeling like we’re all friends.
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
Our ideal client is one who values their professional image. Someone who understands the importance of headshots and are all in on collaboratively making the perfect image to represent their brand. We cater to corporate professionals, realtors, attorneys, and small business owners.
Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you’d like to mention?
Soon we hope to finalize our partnership with the non-profit group, Portraits for Patriots, providing one free headshot to military personnel transitioning from active duty to civilian life.
We also offer free high school senior sessions for kids in foster care!
Is there any other information you’d like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
I think the important thing for potential clients to know is that we exist to serve you. Without our clients, there is no D2 Photography. We strive to give you a great experience, create great images and have you leave happy with your final product.
How do you see your business growing and improving over the next few years?
Our goal is to be known in the Willamette Valley area as the premier headshot photographers. It takes time to get name recognition, but we want to be the photographers people think of when they need a professional headshot.
